The 28-300 FX is not the same as the 18-200 Dx lens used on the Dx sensor.  Based on the 1.5 multiplication factor of the Dx sensor the 18-200 Dx has a similar effective focal length (27-300) on the Dx camera as the 28-300 FX (full frame) does on the Fx body.  Effective focal length is not the same as actual focal length.  So they would not be the same lens.  I think you already know this.

I think you will find that the 28-300Fx has an exceptional following which is not based in the forums but in practical application.
