Trying SX260 HS and Sony HX30V and having problems with blurred indoor people photos on Canon

The pictures I am getting from the Canon appear MUCH less sharp, in fact, a bit blurry, with or without flash, compared to the Sony.  I am making sure to hold the camera still and my subject isn't moving.  I'm confused because on dpreview, it seems most people prefer the Canon and I'd really love to prefer it as well since it's $100 cheaper than the Sony.  Am I doing something wrong?  Anybody else have this problem?   I just got both cameras today so I haven't tested extensively or outdoors.
