What a silly comment. I not only would, I own both Canon (G9) and Nikon (D7000 and V1) cameras. And have owned and still own Pentax, when it was Asahi, Leica, Sony and Samsung, all very good. Bought an LX3 for my older daughter. No problem buying Oly or Fuji if they suit me.

Same here, owned a number of cameras over the past 40 years and that includes a list of digitals over the past 9 of those 40. I'd buy any camera that would scratch a particular itch I'd have at any one moment.

I just can't understand the brand loyalism that plagues photo, computer and car owners. It's just some sort of malaise that hits lots of people these days, very silly.

It's not just brand loyalism, it's utter stupidity. It's ignoring the fact that the bits and pieces of all of those brands actually roll of the same Chinese assembly lines. It's also ignoring the fact that although a Mercedes SLS roadster of a quarter of a million Euros is a great car, this does not imply the cute little A-Class of €26K may not be better than the BMW-1 series which is similarly priced.

To put it differently: just because Canon and Nikon make some of the very best, indestructable, awesome DSLRs available for any amount of money today, this does not prove one bloody thing about the quality of their flimsy, plasticky consumer DSLRs versus the flimsy, plasticky comsumer DSLRs of other brands.

People tend to fall for marketing tricks - branding is the biggest of those.
