D7000 with 105 micro. Tubes or teleconverter

Hello experts,
Have spent the last three hours trying to no avail to find out which would be better if I wanted to go beyond 1:1. With my d7000 and the nikon 105 af-s vr if-ed micro.
Option 1, Kenko DG extension tubes. Though a few people warn about the connections with a heavy lense. The example of pictures I see with the tubes are on full frame Nikons.
Will they work on a DX camera? What sort of additional magnification would we see?
Option 2, A teleconverter. Again, will one work. Some messages seem to be hinting that some of them will not fit due to the glass.
Still suffering in the wallet department from buying the camera, lenses, flash, etc. Looking for a friendly priced solution.
The tubes are around 140. Could justify spending more if the teleconverter also worked on my 55-200 f/4-5.6 AF-S VR DX ABC123
I have a sb-910 arriving with a rayflash, so hopefully lighting will not be an issue.
Hope some guru can help.
Thanks and Merry Christmas,
Molando
