Do you know exactly which software corrects (scales the different RGB channels) and which software masks (detects coloured edges and masks those colours)?

Only with software that scales the channels it is not an issue (although you do sacrifice a few pixels at the border of the image). With software that masks the colours, the problem remains (lesser contrast due to the CA).
