Have I been ripped off?

Two possible reasons, as I see it:

So that he could get his money back for the DPReview user ID, too; and

It is a new and misleading (troll) ID.

Of course, there is no significant verification on user IDs, and no charge for them.

The problem for DPR is that these (trollish) posts and subsequent response too, perhaps, may injure the sales of Sigma (and other) products through this site and the purpose of these forums is to provide useful information *to potential buyers* who visit and use this site for purchase. This is not a free-for-all, it is a managed by-product of an intention to assist in a commercial venture. Trolls are a PITA in that regard. They cannot benefit the sales effort.

Hence we have moderation.
