When I first started cropping my images I was concerned if I should follow this photographic rule or that photographic rule, but after gaining some experience cropping I now crop to what pleases my eye no matter what the photographic rules say.

Some folks like to crop their main subject off center, but I find that to be distracting in that it seems to scream technique, and also in real life when I look at something I look right at it and not off to the side, so for the most part I center my main subjects. That's not to say that for composition purposes I don't on occasion offset my main subject.

So long story short, do lots of experimenting with cropping your images and eventually you'll find what it is that pleases your sensibilities.
