There are some incredibly expensive medium format cameras used by commercial photographers which fit very few of the criteria noted in the initial post.  Perhaps rugged/well built, but I bet their owners wouldn't always agree they meet that criteria, either.

Eno is now shooting D600s for pro work.  NPS considers it pro but Nikon marketing does not.  Look at his recent pro gigs where he used the D600 and tell me if it qualifies as pro.

I recognize this is a gear forum, not an art forum.  But, all you have to is look at Ian Ibrahim's site of landscape photography, where much of his older work was taken with a D40 and you realize that light, composition and storytelling is the real determining factor.

So, between Ian's or Eno's work...  The reality of the limitations of most very high end medium format cameras, noting the OP criteria... how Nikon inconsistently defines its own products....  where does this leave us?
