Any experience with the new 35 IS?

For about 5 days now.

I got it because I liked the weight and size compared to the 1.4 choices. I rarely use f2 and would not use 1.4 as I like (some) depth of field. f2.8 with this lens will get a lot of use.

I've been doing test shots at the first 4 apertures and even thrown in an f16. Contrast holds well even wide open with only a slight softness at f2 only in the extreme corners.The bokeh is great, not busy and the stars at f8 look great on the Christmas Jade Tree.

The weather is stinky here on the west coast of Canada so I have not been able to take any of my usual subjects, just book shelves, cats, artists desk, and so on.
