Glenn,
On a trip to Carlsbad Caverns about 20-some years ago I had my fabulous Pentax film Dslr ready to go down to the depths near noon. I began a conversation with the ranger as I was loading the film. Momentarily I lost hold of the camera, it fell onto the floor and rolled to a set of stairs, then bounced dutifully....another 10 feet to its final resting place...hard cement. Needless to say I said goodby to the mangled mess and had to use my wife's Olympus travel cam and got some decent captures.
All that said your images are artistic and well done. The work you have posted on this forum over time has the polished image of professionalism and hopefully some of the comments by others in this thread don't get you down.
I have not revisited the caverns but have toured others. Rather than display questionable etiquette I sent you a private message of an image from Minnetonka cave in Idaho. It was nearly pitch black but the cave was small enough that I was able to bring a flash and do some bounce images.
Keep up the good work.
Bob
Thanks Bob...
I appreciate your kind words. And, I truly appreciate the honest feedback I am receiving in this thread. At first, I really like the images. But, as read the comments and view the photos more critically, I understand some of the critique. I think I might go back and bring some more contrast into some of these to see what happens in terms of removing some of the flatness from the color versions. It can't hurt to try!
For some reason, I am not able to open your private message! I see that it came through, but the website isn't letting me view more than a few words of the message. Maybe you can send it again?

I sent another PM. If you can't read it I will post it here with your ok. It is an image from Minnetonka Cave in Idaho. The cave was small enough to allow a bounced flash for the detail. Adjusting for WB I think I was able to get some accurate colors.
