How do you ever take your D7000 to the beach?

So, I just had my first time with my D7000 on the beach and it was frustrating, few minites later my images showed dark grey spots.
Is it normal do have tour sensor attacked by sand/dust that quickly? I dint even change lenses.
Or maybe my D7000 is faulty, with some unknown little hole?
If that is actually normal behavior, how do pros deal with it? Sensor cleaning swabs all the way? Isnt there some kind of protection agaisnt it?
Give me some insights please. I had the sensor cleaned before going to the beach and now all my next pics will be ruined
ps: I brought a giottos blower but it did nothing at all.
