With exposure of 30 seconds, I assume they let you use tripods in the caverns? That's pretty accommodating for us photographers.
I used to live in El Paso, but moved from there more than 20 years ago, and have not been back to Carlsbad Caverns since then. I need to go back there next time I visit El Paso.

Yes...they allow tripods. Technically, they don't allow tripods during the guided tours. However, I talked with the ranger about it and he made an exception for me given that there were so few visitors in the caverns that day. As he led the group from one room to the next, he allowed me to stay behind for a few minutes each time to capture images of the empty rooms!
Very accommodating!
