Lets say nikon makes 54MPx D4X which shoots at 4FPS. Would you consider it a pro body worth buying? The jump from 12MPx D3 to 24MPx D3X was a factor of 2, which gives 1.4x increase in resolution. 36MPx to 54MPx is an increase of 1.5x, which would be about 1.22 rise in resolution. Is it worth the extra $4K?

Again, ROI to the rescue: does the extra cost justify itself in terms of increased earnings and/or avoiding loss of opportunities from lack of capability? How many people here need to ask this question?

Seeking the heart and spirit in each image

It seems to me we have a clash of visible quality vs market snobism. Let me explain: customer has a choice of buying a 16MPx image and a 36MPx image; customer will go with 36MPx. But, assuming both images correctly frame the subject, there is no way to see a difference between the 2 without pixel peeping. So, from practical stand point a 54MPx d4x will result in an image that does not look too different from D800 or even D4, unless people pixel peep. Is our population really so dumb as so justify the cost and provide ROI on a 54MPx camera vs existing 16 and 36MPx?
