Warning to others migrating your OS to a SSD

I've done this several times, most recently when getting ready to upgrade to Win8. I've done it two ways: First, clone the old drive to the new drive, with both connected in the PC, and then I remove the old drive and put it somewhere safe and move the new drive to that position. I've done it going from one regular hard drive to a new, bigger, one, going from a regular hard drive to an SSD, and going from an SSD to a larger SSD. The second way is to make a standard full backup to an external drive, replace the old drive with the new one, and then restore the backup to the new drive.

No matter what, the key is to NEVER touch the old drive - both so you can return it if the copy fails, and so you can keep it as a backup in case the new drive fails.
