I'll be getting my EPL5 soon, and was reading this article - http://diglloyd.com/blog/2012/20121114_2-MicroFourThirds-quality.html
I've generally noticed the OMd and e-pl5's (which uses the same sensor, imaging process etc.) shadows to be too dark. Most of the samples I see of these cameras in difficult lighting seem to have almost fully black shadows in certain areas.
What do the omd,epl5,epm2 owners here think ?
Anyways, to fix the shadow issue I was thinking I'll fix the problematic ones in Lightroom.
Meanwhile I read the article given in the link above and these lines caught my attention - "With conservative exposure, a JPEG avoids blowing out. But as the pair of images below shows, the best exposure for RAW will badly blow-out the JPEG"
Has anyone here been experiencing this ? Does this mean that its generally better to add a positive exposure compensation as a practice to what the camera is recommending, to be able to get better RAW files(with lower noise) to work with ?
Read these two articles of Pekka Potka on exposing to the right : he has explained it first for the E-P3 in detail. And then described how the same technique works for the E-M5 too.
It is the best ressource if you are interested by an effective method allowing you to concentrate on photography
here you come again w/ your miserable olympus sponsored blogger... if OP wants to concentrate on photography there are more suitable masters to read and if OP wants to concentrate on technique again there are more suitable sources to read ... PP is neither meat nor fish, hence he is useless for somebody who can reach for the tools created for that purpose and learn how to research himself...
Pekka Potka is a professional photographer, who has lead a digital photography studio employing several persons for several years. He has published photoshop manuals in Finnish as well. Like all pro photographers his methods are practical and effective, because time is money and an effective workflow is very important if you want to manage a successful enterprise.
Yes, I come with that ressource again because I'm sure it will be more useful for most hobby photographers than looking at the statistical data of RawDigger or musing around with UniWB and green LCD. As long as their main goal is pictures rather than the noise statistics and forum arguments.
