Screw-mount to M4/3 adapters: a very varied menu
Dec 23, 2012

I'd like to play a bit on my OM-D with my long-dormant Pentax screw-mount lenses, several of which performed wonderfully in their day. But the range of prices I see on available adapters makes me uneasy: aren't these things basically all the same (i.e., simple tubes, no electronics)?

Amazon lists several of them: a Fotodiox, a Rainbow Imaging, and an EZFoto (which looks a lot like the Rainbow), all at around $10, and a Novoflex at $157!! OK, let's assume that Novoflex is the Leica of adapters and not meant to be purchased by us ordinary folk. But Adorama, B&H and a few others are selling a Dot Line for $50. Is there a difference between a $50 screw-mount adapter and a $10 one?

If there's anyone who's put a toe into these waters already, I'd be grateful for some guidance.
