I can't speak for the F3 but the picture quality of the 5n is as good (or better) than any DSLR that has an APS size sensor.

The sensor in the Sony cameras is one of the best and the only thing that might degrade picture quality could be native lens availability.

There is no DSLR (entry level or otherwise), with an APS size sensor, that produces a better picture than the 5n.

There are some DSLRs that have more than 16 mega pixels so these cameras will be credited with more resolution than the 5n but actual picture quality isn't better.
