What does the 2nd amendment right to "bear arms" really mean?

I understand this is generally accepted to mean for an individual to carry arms....like a rifle, a sword, a pistol.

Since a shoulder fired Stinger ground to air missile seems to fit the definition, do we have the right to bear these arms too?

...and if this is not so, and the US government has passed a law forbidding Stingers as being too deadly to aircraft could we not ban all grenade launchers and assault rifles because of their lethal characteristics?

That is, it seems that the 2nd amendment has some wiggle room in it's definition and restrictions.
