Gitzo/Acratec combo

After driving myself and a few others crazy for a couple of weeks I think that I have come up with a good hiking combo. I am looking at a Gitzo GT2542L Mountaineer tripod and the Acratec GP ballhead with lever. I would be pleased to hear your comments. Gitzo is a common name here, but Acratec is rarely mentioned. I hike up to 10 miles, have 62 year old legs and am 5'8" tall. I am interested in long and multiple exposures and would use it in the field and in the city. I am interested in lifelong quality.

I would appreciate your experienced comments. I have not pulled out my credit card yet, nor have I figured out how to explain it to my wife.
