"Crossword" a99 Mall Shot

I like the composition a lot.  Looks to me that there is a fair amount of noise in that shot, or is it sharpening artifacts?  I haven't seen that much grain with my A99 ISO 6400 shots, so just wondering if its the desired effect or a true product of the lighting conditions in the mall.
