24 MP from an entry level DSLR

Let's say 12 = 4 x 3, 18 = 4.90 x 3.67, and 24 = 6 x 4.

18 vs 12 is a 50% increase in MP, but a ((4.90 - 4) / 4) x 100 = 22.5% increase in resolution.

100% increase in MP gives a ((6 - 4) / 4) x 100 = 50% increase in resolution.

IOW, the change in resolution is only 1/2 the change in MP.

You wouldn't believe the crp I had to do at uni...
