Er ... depends on what lenses you slap on! most of the faster ones are as you know the same size as FF ones, so the total system isn't going to really be smaller, unless you 'downgrade' to HG from SHG. And then you often do give up more than a 'bit' of flexibility to FF.
Not on the tele side of things though. The 50-200 is a fair bit smaller than a 100-400 Canon, and the 300/2.8 is a lot smaller than a 600/4 FF. If you are a shooter that uses everything from UW to UT, the system is still much smaller, even if you use the F2 zooms. But even if you do downgrade to HG, the 14-54 and 12-60 are better solutions than a 24-105L. They are smaller and better optically too, so I don't see where you give up more than a bit of flexibility.
I think there is something else to think about here. With Oly bringing forth a body that will work properly with 4/3 and m4/3 lenses, this gives an upgrade path for the 4/3 shooter that doesn't adequately exist at this time. But what about the future? Will they continue to make the 4/3 glass for those who want it or at least remake them with m4/3 mounts? Or will this be a dead end for those who want to use 4/3 glass? I say this because at some point those 4/3 lenses will die, and parts will no longer be available for repair if Oly stops production of them. At that point what does the user do if there is not a suitable equivalent in m4/3 mount? I think that the majority of serious 4/3 shooters are tele shooters, who appreciate the reach of the 2x sensor and the fine glass for it.
With the quality of the 4/3 glass, Oly has the opportunity to be the smallest and most versatile wildlife platform, since the tele stuff is so much smaller than a FF lens. The 2x sensor really gives a reach advantage, and now that the newer sensors gives more than adequate IQ out to 3200, I would hate to see them give up on this great glass. The HG and SHG lenses are truly first class, better than most Canon L's I own.
Personally, I still remember picking up the new (at the time) E-1 and lenses at PMA, and I have since then always wanted to shoot this glass and have the durability of the E system. But I never went down the path due to the sensor limitations when it came to IQ at the extremes. For real world practical shooting, the performance of the OM-D in the IQ dept is plenty. Now that Oly has a sensor that can run with my 5D2, I'm ready to make the switch. I'm just waiting for AF-C to be as good as it is on PDAF, and I am assuming the new hybrid will deliver that. You can see with the number of people jumping ship from FF bodies to OM-D, that Oly now has the chance to convert more, but I think in order to do this, they will need to have the options that the HG and SHG lenses bring to the table. Long glass is where m4/3 is lacking in the grand scheme of things. Panny may be bringing a 150/2.8 but that is still fairly short.
