First DSLR K-30, and took the opportunity to splurge with a Sigma 50mm f/1.4 lens.

I really do not have personal reference as to how well this setup performs compared to other standalone lens, but coming from the kit lens at 18-55mm, this Sigma made a huge difference for low light shooting, but also the autofocus is incredibly fast.
I read alot of reviews about how it has onion ring bokehs, but did not really notice any. I bought this lens from B&H and was delivered on Thursday this week. Check out some of these novice pictures, even in the hands of someone who doesn't shoot anything other than a phone and point & shoot, it still made the pictures quite beautiful compared to the kit lens.
This lens looks like a beast on the K-30, it's so big and intimidating ;-), love it.
