I am a moderator. I only volunteered to moderate the forums where I am very active - ones that I read often, and where I post. I would not volunteer, for example, to moderate the Casio Talk forum because I'd have no reason to go there except to moderate - I have a full time job, family obligations, and many sites/forums where I go out of interest, so why would I volunteer to spend time moderate a forum where I have no interest? I'm sure that most, if not all of the moderators, feel the same way.

There were many months between when I volunteered to moderate two forums and when I was asked to take on the moderator role. I assume that during that time the staff at DPREVIEW looked at my posts to determine if I have the knowledge and temperament to moderate, and only gave me the authority once they had completed the review. I'm pretty sure that they're now monitoring my actions to see if they made the right choice, and that I'll lose my authority if I don't use it wisely.

OK, you are a moderator.

I've read in several places that moderators are identified.

How, may I ask. are you identified? - I see nothing on your posts or your profile which identifies you as a moderator.

I also cannot see myself or anyone else responding to, say, a "C&C" (Comment & Criticism) from you, since you would have the power to simply ban someone who directly criticzed your work - would you do such a thing?

Not likely, but you COULD, and that's the difference.
