You could literally buy the D600 and the Tamron 24-70mm f2.8 VC for just a little more than the Sony a99 body and have stabilized 24-70 as well giving up little and gaining IQ in stills....

But you'd lose the EVF and articulating screen of the A99. D600 live view and AF much poorer too. Same for D800. These things may matter. They matter to me. Others May feel differently.

The articulating screen IS a real loss EVF has to be looked at more as a trade off either direction but owning the d7000 ( which the d600 borrows its AF from if im not mistaken ) and the a77 the d7000 AF blows the a77 away in both terms of results and your control over its behavior. Dynamic 21pt assist set to center AF on the d7000 absolutely owns my a77 set to center zone using the same lens. Now everything im mentioning is in relation to stills only. Money may be now object to dude but its compelling when you can get a top notch fast lens with vc plus a better stills camera for same as just the body imho. Although havijg handled both the a99 is a dream, when I have been using my a77 then have to go back to the d7000 its almost painful the handling difference haha
