Canikon MUST switch to EVFs

EVFs have limitations: lack of clarity in good light, period. this is true for all optical devices

binoculars have prisms/mirrors, and direct-view un-powered optics
microscopes have prisms/mirrors, and direct-view un-powered optics
gun/sniper sites have direct-view un-powered optics

dSLRs have direct-view un-powered optics

digicams have direct-view un-powered optics [usually optical tunnels]
rangefinders (non-cameras and cameras) have direct-view un-powered optics

the day 'all' optical devices have EVFs, will be the day they MUST ALL include OVFs too (it is irrelevant whether prism/mirrors are involved or not; the IRONY of SLT w/EVF, is that it MUST have mirrors, if not prisms to serve as 'bounce-reflection-optics')

if they don't, then they will NOT differ from digicams that lack direct-view un-powered optics, stuck with 'only EVF/LCD'. and we all know advances in EVF improve, but they cannot match direct-view un-powered optics, ever in GOOD LIGHT.

IF you want to point to BAD LIGHT, even EVF/LCDs also have limitations too, because the light projection to your eye can be so intense, it makes you BLIND especially when used in the VERY DARK, even when the screen shows 'complete black'. I've indicated before that EVFs that are TFT-LCD based should be replaced by (AM)OLEDs or their 'newer variants' (whatever that may be), which allow for faster refresh rates as well as blacker blacks.

for the consumer, dSLRs when shooting in CONSTANT MIRROR UP modes for Cinematography (or stills), do have firmware alternatives (like Magic Lantern, used on LV EOS Canons), which allows the USELESS LCD(or EVF if any, like future EOS M) in the DARK, to 'simulate-OR-autogain' in ridiculously pitch black darkness (yes, there should always be 'some' light 'somewhere', never 'no light everywhere'.)

when was the last time you ever looked at the FULL MOON, with a powerful 70x BINOCULARS!!!

no 'consumer' camera can match with their MONOCULAR view, even with an OVF, much less EVF/LCD.  there is nothing like seeing something with nothing inbetween to interfere. if your eyes are good, you can always SEE pixelation of EVF/LCDs of any kind.

i'd much prefer HYBRID EVF/OVF as i've mentioned years ago... (especially reiterated just when the EOS 20Da came out, it had ExpSim LV for astrophotography, that was the BEGINNING of larger sensored systems with 'mirror-up' mode for DIRECT IMAGE SENSOR 'previewing')

mirrorless systems today are STRICTLY derivative of 'digicams', nothing more, but difference in offering 'interchangeable lens', that's all. since mirrorless systems are a step up from smaller sensored mirrorless 'digicams' (all digicams are mirrorless to begin with) they merely get a 'better/larger' sensor than their little digicam counterpart, so that edge isn't novel, just inevitable varied permutation of what already exists.
