Thanks Shield. Good to know. That may not really affect the sort of stuff I plan to shoot so perhaps it will factor less for me. I've heard such good things about the D600 (and I used to have a D700 that I really enjoyed) but I think other factors are going to take over for awhile.

I think I'm getting a bit overly hung up on optimizing the technical quality of what I'm doing and getting distracted from seizing opportunities to capture. So I'm going to see if the ergo of the A99 helps in that way (a lot of that is the articulated screen, customizable buttons and even, to a lesser degree, the weight). Choosing the A99 for me means choosing something that I think will create different (hopefully better) options and different work patterns even though the D600/800 and/or 5d3 might offer better image and video quality.

If I can improve my level of preparedness and push myself further away from the dream of perfect technical imaging, I'm hoping it will help me focus on "seeing" and reacting.

We'll see if that happens.

(I am of course still dealing in full frame cameras. If I were really committing to this path maybe I'd go more towards compacts or m43 to maximize portability for example. But you know...baby steps.)
