Thanks!

Three questions, if you can comment on them, and a comment.

I'll try.  I'm having enormous problems with this new forum software -- for instance, I just nuked the "your text" graphics, so please bear with me.  And hopefully you can follow the mess I've made, below.

1. Why was this forum chosen? It is not an overly active forum.

I don't know -- when they asked if anyone was interested, I answered, and then I was "chosen" for this forum.

2. Are there specific moderator rules?

There's a handbook that tries to explain what we should be doing.  Basically, the rules are the same-old forum rules that have been in place forever.  To a great extent, we will rely on the forum members to complain about situations, and then we'll try to handle those complaints.

3. Will moderators first try to correct improper behavior, rather than to resort to post removal?

I'll let you know when I figure that out.

Really, I suppose we'll all just try to do the best we can.  I certainly would like to get people to comprehend that they're being offensive, and ask them to behave, rather than do anything more than that.

Post removal usually leads to an empty forum, after all, what would be the point in posting?

I don't expect to see much heavy-handedness, except for gross violations, such as spam and such.

I guess that we will see you around here more often

Well, we'll see.  I sure don't have the time to go through every thread and try to control things like some folks have feared.  Basically, if someone hits the "complain" button, the moderators will see a little icon for the thread, and we'll check it out.  It doesn't really need to be more than that.
