Question for nex-6 owners. Does the camera have an AF micro adjust feature that works for on-sensor PDAF? I can't see how these cameras can have accurate PDAF out of the box without any lens and sensor shimming. As far as I know, all other PDAF systems have shimmed lenses and sensors.

Yes, the AF micro adjust menu is active with a PDAF compatible lens.

Maybe herein lies the answer?

  • Henry, as you seem NOT to experience PDAF problems with your 16-50,
  • note your MFA settings (presumably on zero now, but just in case),
  • and then miss-calibrate to check whether this will lead to the effects Radu and others observe with theirs N6 + 16-50 setups ,
  • and to what extent as a function of the number of MFA clicks necessary to replicate back focusing at a given target distance and FL;
