Teach me about macro lenses

I guess it all depends on how much macro you will be doing.  Macro is not in my blood, but I did buy a set of rings from eBay, and made a few dollars reselling them on craigslist.  Yes, they are very cheap looking, made in China from recycled who knows what materials.
