For grabbing family moments, etc. I certainly think the camcorder would be the better tool (depends on how low the light gets as well) due to stabilization, deeper focus, zooming, etc. but it doesn't meet the two criteria above and thus is a non-starter.

Your examples are certainly great illustrations though of the advantages of a dedicated device for certain uses. Thanks very much for that.
