Will Canon ever improve DPP?

Why not two versions, Free and  DPP+ having a small fee but not trying to compete with LR etc.

Some soft edge masking between exposure grades would make high DR very easy.

They could do the same with camera firmware upgrades locked to the serial number.

These guys do it with a Free and $1k version -
