New D600 shoot 3K shots sace down to solve dust spots?
Dec 21, 2012

Despite all the hullabaloo about the D600 dust problem I took advantage of the kit sale to buy one from B&H and received it today.  Serial number is 3059xxx, sensor is immaculate with no dust or hot spots. on the first actuation.

So here is my question.  Assuming there is a problem with dust/oil accumulating during the first 3000 or so shots would it make any sense to simply shoot 3000 shots with the lens pointed straight down so that any dust/oil hopefully falls onto the lens rather than the sensor?

I hate cleaning sensors and I'm not worried about exceeding the 150,000 shutter actuations so I'm just curious if anybody has an intelligent comment about this idea.

Thanks.
