Back-button focusing with epl-1. Good idea?

Recently I've read a few articles by DSLR photographers who recommend using separate back-button focusing After struggling with the Epl-1 menu, I got the video button to do the focusing. Since my muscle memory is not what it once was, this change will have a cost. Is it worth it? Is there any reason why this method would make more sense on the larger and heavier DSLR than on a epl-1? Any advice, experiences would be welcome.
