That's very refreshing!
Unfortunatelly, you're not right here. Besides Ray's excellent artistry, I see a lot of work on part of the body, compensating for the lens' weakness. Excellent sensor SNR and excellent IS made these shots happen, even with that small aperture.
Yup, I should have said "it's not ONLY the gear which is responsible for good pictures", because I like the fact that those very nice pictures were taken with a 30$ lens cap
