I think you've got this somewhat backwards - it should read:

You can use either a Linear or Circular Polarizer with the FZ200 - Linear Polarizers should not be used on dSLRs because they can interfere with metering and/or the AF system.

Panasonic's approved/offered polarizer for the FZ200 is a CPL and either a Linear PL or a CPL will work fine. The only real difference for the FZ200 might be price, but then CPLs seem to be more plentiful in stores nowadays, so the price difference may be negligible or you might not even have a choice.
