Now don't start telling me about the PL5, I'm perfectly happy with what I have. Though I do recall the PL3's fit in the hands with fond regard.

The EPL5 doesn't add anything to the OMD except a second body and its diminutive size. I bought it after selling all of my compacts thinking it could do THAT job with either the body cap or 14 or the old 17 pancake and it could also serve as a useful second m43 body when I want to go out with multiple lenses and not have to change 'em all the time. And it does all of that admirably. But then Pany dropped the price of the LX7 to $299 and I had to check THAT out again and now I'm stuck. I really should get rid of one of them, but the EPL5 is too useful and I just have this weird irrational love for the Pany LX series. Very odd, because I've never bonded with their m43 bodies (lenses, yes) but the LX5 and LX7 are two of the most enjoyable cameras I've ever gone out shooting with. The 5 was great, the 7 is more great. Despite its limited sensor, its such an amazingly well thought out and executed camera. So I'll probably sell a lens or two I'm not using anymore and keep both. Irrationally...   The EPL5 with the body cap is actually smaller than the LX7 and with the 14mm is only about 2mm deeper. Pretty similar sized cameras...

I was miffed by Oly's delay, told them to forget it when asked to re-card the order. I placed the order in the first place thinking it would be "interesting". From what I saw being done with it up to that point I just wasn't as inspired to bother. But seeing the light you put through it. . . Yet, after shelling out for the 17/.95 recently, I think also shelling out for this would be irresponsible. I have a sense my wife wouldn't see the logic in that (if I ever dared to put it to her [g]).

I'm more of an "I'll get more done by seeking forgiveness rather than permission" kind of guy. Fortunately, I very rarely have to ask for either. But if I'd bought the 17/9.5, that'd be a different story. Buying the X-Pro definitely wasn't a decision I took totally on my own! But for $50, I'd have bought the body cap on curiosity alone, which I kind of did, but I figured it would be useful for the way I shoot on the street. And, sure enough...

Although, realistically, I'll probably still use the 12 and the new 17mm (once I have it) more. Because they can zone focus just as well, but they can also auto-focus, work in low light, and when you get a shot that has really good IQ, the lens isn't the weak link in the chain. I don't shoot for super smooth and clean reproduction generally (you may have noticed!), but sometimes I get a shot or two that work best that way, and this lens doesn't really give you much of that option. But, jeez, to put on the EPL5 and slip in a coat pocket, its tough to beat...
