I bought the X Pro1 at the full price, because I wanted the OVF, and I liked the size vs the X E1. Others have noted the X E1 seems a bit light weight compared to the X Pro1, so I wonder if other compromises were made...?

Besides, the X Pro1 looks more like a Leica

When I received the X Pro1 from Amazon, it looked to me that it was not a "new" camera, that it had previously been opened and played with. (I posted this experience here.) Sent it back to Amazon, got a refund. (I had bought the 35mm separately.)

As I was in the process of re-ordering the body, the sale came up. So I got the 18mm "free." I have subsequently purchased the 60mm.

Getting back on subject, the OVF is a must have for me. No matter how good the EVF is, it is still an EVF and not the same as looking through the lens, or looking through optics not electronically enhanced. The framing thing is not an issue after you have some experience with the OVF — either on this camera or the X100.

your not looking through the lens with the OVF, you are with the EVF, enhanced or not, you are seeing what the lens sees not what you think you're seeing when you use the OVF.

but yes the X-Pro1 does kind of look like the poor mans Leica M
