Help with the Sony A99

I received my Sony A99 and was devastated to see this error when I turned it on:
: "Unavailable since the steadyshot unit has malfunction. Please seek repair service"

Has anyone else received this problem? Can be it self repaired or do I have to send it back to my supplier?

Has anyone else received an A99 DOA? It makes me sick to find out that Sony has such a poor quality control. Either that or I am unlucky.

Also: What happens if I put a DT 50mm 1.8 onto the A99? Will it be effectively a 75mm 1.8 on an APSC sensor?
