NEX RAW Exposure

I've just been playing with exposure on my NEX-6.

It seems to me that there is a huge amount of highlight recovery possible on the NEX RAW files.

Even when the OOC JPEG is completely blown, it's possible to recover almost all of the detail from the RAW file. It seems to me there's almost three full stops of latitude, although that will depend on the lighting and white balance. That's a lot; I definitely didn't have that much headroom on my Nikon D200.

I'm tempted to start overexposing everything by 1 or 2 stops. This can then be reversed in RAW conversion and that means more information and less noise.

Obviously, it's not safe to assume that the NEX-7 and NEX-5 work exactly the same although I suspect they behave not too differently from the NEX-6.

Any other RAW shooters looked at this and/or reached any conclusions?
