Clear Zoom is definitely a winner in my book. The 18200 just became a 400mm tele lens (600mm FF equivalent)!!

How is this different from cropping your image and using software interpolation to upscale?

A rose/digital-zoom by any other name...

Do you have a workflow? I don't.

I can shoot in RAW, and use sharpening techniques, but they are more comparable to Digital Zoom than to Clear Image Zoom.

I would need special PP software to enable the same - and I don't find it in my LR or DxO software - and I would have to shoot in RAW (full image), crop and process in post.

I find it much easier to shoot in JPG, and have it al done in the camera (upsampling, re-imaging).

Would I use it often? Likely not. But there are cases where this just might be the most convenient way (e.g. walk-around with the 1650, going to 100mm, or at the race-track with the 18200, going to 400mm).

OK

So they're using a different interpolation mechanism for their digital zoom

The 'focal length doubled' hook got my knee jerking a bit, but the new technique is certainly interesting

I guess it's worth checking out and could certainly have uses if I can't be bothered to do RAW and PP - thanks for the heads-up!
