I've been planning to get the Oly 9-18 to go with my OMD. I had one before and liked its range and compactness, though always had reservations about its IQ on the Pany Gh1 (a good camera I just never grew to love).
Now I'm wondering should I pay the extra and get the Pany 7-14 instead. I usually use the wide end, so lack of range wouldn't be much of a problem.
I'm not bothered about IQ at 100%, but overall quality at A4 matters to me.
Does anyone have both and can give me an opinion as to whether there's a big IQ difference at around 9mm? It would have to be noticeable for me to give up the compactness of the 9-18, quite apart from the price difference.
I presume too that Oly files wouldn't have distortion fixed in camera, either RAW or JPEG. Mostly not a problem for me, but it looks to me as though the Oly software does a better job than PS 5 can do later.

There are optimists and there are realists
You will find this DPReview's of the two lenses of interest. Below is a link to the DPR lens comparison widget. You should also read the full lens reviews.
Hope this helps - I have the 9-18mm it is an amazing little lens. I use it on a GH2 and a GX1,
