Sure, you were correct that it is a crop and some upsampling, which is essentially just digital zoom. Everybody including the original poster understands that aspect of the process. The marketing for this of course is that the method of up sampling is somehow better than conventional digital zoom (which is probably all hype. Digital zoom is digital zoom)

This is where the confusion arises:

The "perspective" is the same for any lens. The FOV is that of a 100mm equivalent lens because you're essentially using an optical 33mm lens (originally on a 1.5x crop sensor) on a portion of the sensor that you are using as a 3x crop sensor now while "still standing in the same spot".

note that the NEX is already using a crop sensor.

When you compare a real 100mm lens and a 100mm equivalent lens (or any 100mm equivalent lenses on crop sensors which is what we are doing here) you place them at the same subject distance. The "perspective" simply linked to where you are standing. And obviously when you compare 100mm equivalent to 100mm equivalent you want to stand in the SAME place.

yes digital zoom and clear zoom are essentially the same obviously. An up sampled image can't have more information than the original image.

But NO, all this static you introduced about "perspective" is wrong and rather irrelevant, and its the stuff that Vlad4D is correcting you on.
