The availability of something doesn't mean you have to use it.

Autofocus lenses on MFT still use focus by wire when they are focussed manually, which is terrible compared to real manual focus.

Exactly!  Very frustrating when trying to get focus on a small target & the lens will not lock on & the focus ring is too sensitive & you rock back & forth trying to get it.  With birds, you most likely miss the shot as they fly off.
