The response you have from Alan-S seems to indicate that your problem is different from mine. Anyway I offer another insight: since the overexposure happens only once in while, it could also be that the curtain may be stuck a bit at the first shutter release. As the overexposure is very slight, it could happen that you have the issue also on non-pano shots, but you do not realize it.

I had that happen in my A550, when after a rest, the first shot taken was at times much over exposed. Sony exchanged the shutter mechanism which fixed the issue.

Try different lenses to confirm if the trouble is in the body or in the lens.
