The single biggest downfall of the EXR sensor - detail capture

People wants the fine detail in their images, and the simply EXR does not deliver in that regard. EXR is good for the niche that demand another stop of DR, and the DR advantage diminishes if you shoot raw in these cameras.

People may want what it likes, but quite often does not understand that image as a whole  is not likely to be seen at more than about 3Mp - such limitations are applied by modern monitors resolution. Even at half - resolution used with EXR there's excessive amount of detail for this resolution. As for  EXR advantage in RAW - which else modern compact does not waste the disk space and computer power by allowing to record half-resolution RAWs? With proprietary RAW converter these images are more than usable and allow plenty of editing to be applied. The RAW format itself is rather quirky however - and for this only I would not put the camera at the top when comparing to competitors.

I don't know about the XF1, but if the X10 has a conventional 2/3'' sensor with that excellent manual zoom lens and viewfinder, I am sure it will get tops marks. I would pick a X10 with a
"normal" sensor over the G15 or the XZ-2 any day.

I have no inclination to wishful thinking. But if such a camera existed it would definitely draw my attention. I don't give any rainchecks though.
