Help - video files disappeared - d7000!

I took some photos at my son's nativity the other day and also a few short video clips. I've done a transfer to mac but the video files are nowhere to be seen!

I have since formatted the memory cards thinking I had transferred everything (!) then suddenly remembered I couldn't recall seeing any of the vid clips (this came to me about 2am this morning!)

I'm assuming I'm not going to be able to recover them given I've formatted the cards, but does anyone know why then wouldn't have transferred or (what would be fantastic) if they have actually been transferred somewhere that I just don't know where to look??
