Does it make sense to include an old manual flash in a modern wireless TTL system?

I just ordered a Metz 50 AF-1 for my Olympus E-pl5. Since it's still not quite cheap, I bought only one. However, some scenes need more light/fill. I was thinking to put my venerable Sunpak 355 with a Seagull SKY-5 slave sensor in the line.

Can the added manual flash improve shadows? Shall I set the TTL-one to underexpose?
