Accessing network with Adobe Bridge CS4

After an extensive Google search, I found there were several tech notes that, in their infinite wisdom, Adobe has never allowed Bridge to access any drives but local. I can access remote files in Photoshop, but not in Bridge, so I doubt it's a permissions issue.
