That certainly illustrates what I was saying about the 24-70 being the better-corrected lens, but I'd caution the OP against assuming that dramatic differences in a test chart are going to be as meaningful when using the lenses in the real world.

Also, historically there has been a good amount of sample variation in Nikon's 24-120 lenses, so two lenses may perform differently.  How it ends up working out may depend on whether you get a good one or a bad one, if that's still the case.
